Choosing Summer Sandals


Summer is probably the most fun time of year with trips to the beaches, picnics in the park, long walks in the country and days out at theme parks to look forward to. If you are lucky, the sun will be shining and you can have a barbecue in the garden with your friends too. Most of us enjoy a holiday abroad in the hot sunshine too. As soon as the summer comes, you know that it is time to pack away the wellies and those heavy winter boots and slip into some light and comfortable footwear.

Sandals are by far the best form of footwear for the summer months. There are many different types of sandals on the market today. There are styles perfect for men, women and children and choosing the perfect pair can be a lot of fun.

When choosing sandals, you should also consider the comfort factor. Women may consider espadrille type sandals as they do not have straps across the side which can sometimes cut into women`s feet causing blisters, although strappy sandals look great with pretty summer dresses.

When buying sandals for children, as well as thinking about comfort, you must also consider the child`s safety. Sandals that fall off the feet easily could cause accidents, so, Mary Jane style sandals or sandals with a secure strap are probably the best. Jelly rainbow sandals are a particular favourite with kids and provide the utmost comfort.

When buying sandals, men seem to favour leather flip flop styles. These look great with summer shorts and can make the most casual beach outfit seem much more upmarket and they avoid the hideous fashion faux pas of socks with sandals, which many men are guilty of.

You should always consider what you will be wearing your sandals for before you make a purchase. If you are buying them to wear on the beach or to lounge in the garden, jelly sandals or fun flip flops will be more than sufficient and look great too, but, if you are going to be wearing them in formal situations, you may want to go for gladiator or espadrille styles or a pair of very smart leather sandals which you could even wear to the office and they would not look out of place with your Prada designer clothes, but work equally as well at the park or a friend`s barbecue.
